Prof. Rajiv Reebye, MD, FRCPC
Prof. Rajiv Reebye is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) specialistand Clinical Professor in the department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada.
Prof. Reebye is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) and holds a specialist certificate in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
He is the Program Director for the Neuro-rehabilitation and Spasticity fellowship program in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC Canada.
He is the Chair of the ISPRM (International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) Spasticity Special Interest Group, designing educational modules for spasticity education worldwide.
Prof. Reebye is the co-founder of the Canadian advances in neuro-orthopedics for spasticity consortium (CANOSC), an organization created to provide excellence in enhancing collaborative care between physicians and surgeons for the treatment of spasticity.
Prof. Reebye has a special clinical and research interest in spasticity management including use of ultrasound for anatomy teachin, evaluation and targeting of spastic muscles and multimodal therapy in spasticity management.
His research interests and publications include curriculum design for spasticity management and teaching, multi-modal treatment of spasticity including casting post botulinum toxin injections for post stroke spasticity, peri-operative botulinum toxin use and use of ultrasound for chemodenervation in the treatment of spasticity.
He is an attending physician on the inpatient neuro-musculoskeletal program and on the outpatient acquired brain injury and neuro-musculoskeletal programs at GF Strong Rehabilitation Center, Vancouver, Canada.
He is also a consulting physician in the spinal cord clinic at BC Children’s Hospital and at the UBC Multiple Sclerosis Clinic.
Prof. Reebye is the director of the New Westminster Rehabilitation Medicine spasticity clinic- a community based university teaching site and spasticity clinic focusing on the treatment of patients with adult spasticity and also children with spasticity transitioning to adulthood.
Prof. Reebye teaches locally and internationally on the use of ultrasound guided injections for spasticity management.
He is also an advisor to the Ministry of Health and Wellness Mauritius in the development of a national stroke registry.
Prof. Reebye received the 2022 Meredith Marks Award (the highest national award for medical education) awarded by the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Excellence in Education.
Prof. Reebye was also awarded as co-director of CANOSC- the 2022 Haim Ring Award by the International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ISPRM) for excellence in International educational exchanges and collaboration.
He is also a research stream member of the WHO World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA) Network promoting the WHO Rehabilitation 2030 mandate.
