Dr. Fatma Al Kuwari is a highly experienced Consultant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), serving as the Acting Chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Program Director of Adult daycare Rehabilitation Service at Qatar Rehabilitation Institute. With over 20 years of clinical and academic expertise in the field, Dr. Fatma is a leader in rehabilitation medicine, focusing on improving patients’ quality of life through evidence-based therapies, personalized rehabilitation plans, and a multidisciplinary approach.
After completing her medical education at Medical Gulf College in Bahrain, Dr. Fatma specialized in PM&R and completed her residency in Stockholm, Sweden and received the Swedish board certificate in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Fatma’s clinical interests include neurological rehabilitation (including stroke and spinal cord injury recovery), pain management, and Musculoskeletal). She is particularly passionate about integrating cutting-edge technology, such as robotic-assisted therapy and virtual rehabilitation tools, to enhance recovery outcomes for patients.
As Acting Chair of the Department of PM&R at Qatar Rehabilitation Institute Dr. Fatma leads a team of specialists and consultants dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation services and conducting research aimed at advancing the field. Her leadership and vision have been instrumental in fostering a collaborative environment that bridges medical, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other rehabilitation disciplines.
Dr. Fatma has played a very important role for Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation and CARF Accreditation of QRI and being part of various committees and chairing JCI chapters.
In addition to her clinical and administrative roles, Dr. Fatma is also involved in research on rehabilitation practices and outcomes. She has contributed to numerous publications in leading medical journals and is often invited to present at national and international conferences on topics related to rehabilitation medicine.
